Hydrometric Surveys of Utility Sewer Systems

Hydrometric_2.jpg

Pollutants by effluent, sewer and water discharges from many sources are largely uncontrolled.   Sampling data from these effluent sources is an important tool which can provide information on the types and amounts of pollutants present plus the discharge load.   This data can then be used to identify pollutant sources and help to develop storm water pollution prevention plans and best management practices priorities to control these sources.

Alternatively sampling data gathered can be used to characterise effluent discharge loads, and will serve as a basis for establishing discharge permits with associated costs.

Benefits:

The Service EURO provide – EURO environmental services will provide a full assessment of the flow area in question.  We set up the composite and flow samplers at the appropriate locations along with a rain gauge.  After we collect samples we can then download the flow measurements and provide a report on the findings.

Benefits:

  • Discharge consent monitoring: Obtaining data characterises effluent discharges that are valuable to permitting authorities and those with permits .
  • Impact assessment of discharges: Effluent discharge sampling provides a means for evaluating the environmental risk of the storm water discharge by identifying the types and amounts of pollutants present.
  • Evaluating this data helps to determine the relative potential for the effluent discharge to contribute to water quality impacts or water quality standard violations.
  • Data can be used to identify potential sources of pollutants.  These sources can then be either eliminated or controlled more specifically by the permit.
