The Dangerous Substances   regulations were brought into effect in 2001 and prescribed water quality in respect to 14 Dangerous Substances in Surface water.  The standards for each parameters are aimed to be met by 31^st December 2010.  These basically include a monitoring programme on the following tests on rivers and streams throughout the country.
