
Environmental noise is the noise experienced by people generated outside households. It can generally be defined as any unwanted sound in the vicinity of the home or its locality and can embrace industrial noise, noise from transport as well as noise from domestic premises.
The most important effects of environmental noise pollution are recognized health and behavioral impacts on people. These can be effects on mental health and rise in blood pressure levels. Behavioral impacts include annoyance, disturbance and frustration.
EURO environmental services undertake environmental noise surveys in accordance with ISO 1996/1/2/3 - Acoustics -Description and Measurement of Environmental Noise, with reference also made to the European Communities (Protection of Workers (Exposure to Noise) Regulations, 1990 and BS 5228 Part1, Noise and vibration control on construction and open sites.
