REPS Farm Plans (October 08)
REPS Planners - soil sampling is required on lands that are in receipt of chemical or organic fertilisers and does also include organic farms.
Areas are selected on the basis of soil type, previous cropping and fertilising history. A sample is normally taken from every two to four hectares. This area may be increased to 12 hectares where soil types are similar and cropping and treatment of lands were the same during the previous five years or more. Soil analysis saves money. It avoids wasting lime and fertiliser, while achieving optimum yields by using required levels.
