WAC stands for Waste Acceptance Criteria.
These criteria describe tests for the classification of waste prior to potential disposal at landfill.
The Landfill Directive BS EN 12457 3:2002 requires waste producers to characterise their waste into Inert, Stable Non Reactive Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Waste.
This involves a range of analytical testing on the leachate and solid samples where results can be compared to Waste Acceptance Criteria characterisation table to determine the class of landfill able to accept the waste.
