Renewable energy is an abundant, well-established technology and the main ingredient for example sunlight can be free.
Energy is a basic ingredient for sustainable development. Renewable sources can supply the energy we need for indefinite periods of time polluting far less overall than fossil or nuclear fuels.
Renewable energy is clean and can be harnessed without damaging the environment.
Renewable energy resources will never run out and are naturally replenished thus their resources are indigenous. Ireland imports almost 90% of its fossil fuels we need for energy and by tapping into a rich vein of renewable energy resources we will reduce our over dependence on costly and polluting imports. Renewable energy can provide investment opportunities and create jobs.
The transition to renewable energy supply and greater efficiency in the use of energy has never been more urgent, due to the threat of global climate change and the depletion of fossil fuels supplies.
